Unfortunately I got ill over the first week, spending the first half of the week recovering and the second half working at my job to cover the days I missed, as well as I little extra time for money issues.
TASK 5: Undergraduate Exhibition
I can now confirm that Games Art and Design will be in the Media Base Room in Boardman House. Vice-Chancellor Professor John Last said that the show last year was the best GAD exhibition yet, so in true GAD fashion, we need to do something bigger and better!
This task is part of a larger role in organising the exhibition and forms the first stage of investigation. I would like you to work in groups of 5 or 6 (you can freely choose your teams) to design and visualise concepts for how best we can display your work. I have attached a schematic of the room with approximate measurements (~6.5m x ~13m) for reference. Each group will need to nominate a group leader who can liaise with the other group leaders to gather info; for example, what people intent to exhibit. I suspect that much of the work can be done remotely using the Facebook group(s) but it would be good for each of you to visit the location and get a sense of the space.
While I created a team and did some iterations myself, barely any of my teammates decided to do anything so all I had where my own designs which I was unsure about because I had no-one to tell me from my group if it was right or not.
The VR room in the corner was for another student who I knew was developing a VR game and they usually need a bit of space.
For the wall designs I really quickly created a layout of how some of the paintings would go, first for the 2D artists if they chose landscapes pieces, and the second for portrait pieces. The third was for 3D artists to show off a video of their piece or environment and the last was for people who had created game demos and you could play them.
Over the term of BA3a I went to a number of life drawing lessons to improve my anatomy skills, I mainly aimed to practice getting different poses quickly so as to come up with ideas for my final pieces, but I also struggle with faces and needed to practice the concept of shading to bring the details on the face out.
